Intersectionality for Entrepreneurs: Building Welcoming Businesses

Hosted by the Manitoba LGBT Chamber of Commerce

Cynthia Fortlage, Collective Consulting
Guided content + Q&A Time

Time: 11:30 am – 1:00 pm ET (10:30 am – 12:00 pm CDT)

Most entrepreneurs want their businesses to be welcoming, but turning intention into everyday practice takes skill. This interactive session introduces intersectionality as a practical tool for building inclusive experiences in business, whether with customers, employees, suppliers, or collaborators.

Grounded in real-world small-business scenarios (from sole traders to growing teams), we’ll clarify key terms, explore everyday decisions that shape belonging (from greeting clients to briefing contractors and setting early policies), and invite reflection on your own business journey.

Attendees can expect to leave with:

  • A simple framework to spot overlapping barriers in customer and workplace experiences
  • A set of language basics for 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion
  • Practical actions you can test in your business within the next week

The session is designed for all starting points, from those just hearing the term for the first time, to more experienced entrepreneurs and professionals ready to audit their processes.

Registration

  • $20 general admission
  • OQCC members: $15 (use the discount code or contact membership@oqcc.ca for your discount code)
